HOW TO SPEND "EARTH WEEKEND" WITH OFFICIAL REBRAND

Official Rebrand has been making moves in the way of sustainable fashion for a few years now, and it’s been just about exactly a year since we last caught up with designer MI Leggett in their Bushwick, Brooklyn studio. Given their commitment to eco-friendly design (Official Rebrand uses exclusively recycled clothing), it should come as no surprise that Earth Day is highly prioritized. And this year, they’re not only celebrating Earth Day, but Earth ~weekend~, with a whole three days of programming to promote sustainability. Celebrating Earth Month with a new collection titled AGE OF DESIRE, OR?! is exploring “a collision of anxieties surrounding climate change and our dependance on decadence.” By displaying the flora and fauna currently under threat, OR?! is shedding light on the urgent action this crisis requires.

At this point, you might be wondering how to get in on the action. You’ve come to the right place. To kick things off, join Official Rebrand this Friday, April 19, at Firelight Studio in DUMBO for their opening party and presentation. Doors open at 6, so don’t delay your arrival for the full experience. The collection will be presented unconventionally, through performances by Pauli Cakes, West Dakota, Rochelle Jamila, and Sessa Cookie Mueller.

Afterwards, head over to The Canvas in Williamsburg on Saturday April 20 and Sunday April 21 for an OR?! pop-up studio. The Canvas is a space literally dedicated to sustainability; by promoting the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals through collaborations with creatives and entrepreneurs, they’ve positioned themselves at the intersection of community and climate action. Come on Saturday for the upcycling workshop at Goodwill’s Earth Day Celebration, and head back on Sunday for custom rebranding from 1-6 pm (this one requires an appointment; to make sure you get a slot, email undonersvp@gmail.com to reserve a time, and either bring your own clothing or purchase something from the Goodwill pop-up on site). There’s a lot going on here—pick one, (or all three) and make a tangible commitment to sustainability by supporting a brand who’s doing the most to get it right. Happy almost Earth Day, fam.
